Prospective research students

Applying for a research higher degree with the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences comprises four main steps:

Step 1 Pre-application

There are a range of things to consider when applying for a research higher degree. Before you proceed with submitting an application, you should read about:

  • how to choose a research topic
  • scholarships
  • course fees
  • the Research Training Scheme
  • courses available
  • find out what it's like to do a PhD

Step 2 Applying to Graduate Schools 

Select the Graduate School or faculty department where you want to apply and follow the application procedures listed on their website.

Step 3 Prepare and submit your application

Follow the Graduate School/Faculty Department's procedures on how to apply, noting any additional documents or requirements specified. Your school will advise when you are able to submit your completed application to the University's Admissions Office.

Step 4 Timelines

Once you have reviewed your Graduate School's procedures for applying, read about timelines and what to do when you receive notice of the outcome of your application.
