Donovan-Johnston Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is to support students of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences to enable them to:

  1. Attend education courses conducted by or in association with the Royal College of Surgeons of England, or
  2. Participate in a clinical attachment to one or more hospitals within the United Kingdom recognised for training towards Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

The scholarship will normally pay for an economy return airfare, tuition, accommodation and living costs for successful applicants noting that the maximum that can be awarded to take up in 2012 is AUD$25,000.

Who can apply?: 
Medical graduates enrolled in a Research Higher Degree in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentisty and Health Sciences and who meet the requirements specified above.

The Heads of Surgery of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences will review the applications and make recommendations to the Faculty's Research Training Committee.

It is strongly recommended that students considering applying for this scholarship discuss their proposed studies with the relevant Department of Surgery Head at the Austin, Northern, Royal Melbourne, Western, St Vincent's and Western Hospitals. Medical graduates plannig to be based at the Royal Children's or Eye and Ear Hospital should contact the Faculty Research Unit before proceeding.
