Cardiovascular:

The Cardiovascular Research Domain researchers approach cardiovascular research on many fronts that reflect the urgency and complexity of cardiovascular disease, ranging from prevention to molecular mechanisms to sophisticated clinical interventions. Heart attacks and strokes are debilitating and deadly: cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in Australia, accounting for 38% of all deaths.

"The key to collaboration is getting on with one another. We help each other out."

Professor David Hare is Senior Cardiologist, Director of Research in the Cardiology Department and Director of Heart Failure Services at Austin Health in Melbourne. He’s recently acquired another hat: Cardiovascular Research Domain Coordinator.

Membership of the Research Domains is broken into three categories:

- Full Members - staff members and RHD students within the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences.

- Affiliate Members - staff members and RHD students of the University of Melbourne (other than the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences).
